These could be made in another way too. Print the pictures on vellum paper and glue to a glass candle holder with mod podge.
From BHGMemory Photo wall hanging quilt
This gift is so special and unique and so easy to make! Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the quilt I did for my mother-in law. But it looks like the one above but much nicer! I love sewing but I got so much pain in may arms when I sewed that I had to give up. So I create easy ways to do my crafts...
You will need
- Quilted fabric double sided;
- Computer Printer fabric;
- Pictures;
- Tacky glue; (the one gets transparent after dries)
- ribbon or cord.
Before you cut the fabric (or become overwhelmed with the idea of making quilt because it sounds too complicated) make sure to read how to bind a quilt at Patchworkposse. She teaches a pretty quick way of doing it that is accessible for beginners.
OK, so having your quilted fabric cut to the desired length (do not forget the back should be bigger!), then:
1.Choose the pictures you want and, following the instructions on the package of the printer fabric, print your pictures; (I printed the pics on regular paper prior as samples)
2. Sew or glue the fabric pictures on the quilted fabric; (make sure you leave enough room on the edges to bind the quilt)
3. Using ribbon or cord make a frame around the pictures with glue;
Here is the picture of the cord that I used.
4. If you would like to add some words you can write something on using a word processing application and print them on the printer fabric as you did the pictures;
5. Bind the quilt now or after the loops;
6. Using some quilted fabric leftovers, make loops (they should be evenly spaced and no more than 8 inches apart)
How to make a loop
Cut a strip of fabric 3 ½ inches wide and 6 inches long for each loop.
Fold each strip in half, vertically, right sides together, and sew a ¼-inch seam or glue it.
Turn the strips right side out and press with the seam at the center back of each strip.
Fold the strips in half with raw edges meeting and press.
Attach the strips to the back of quilt.
*Make sure the loops are the same size so the wall hanging will hang evenly.
