Amazing nativity scene paper dolls!
This is for sure the most beautiful nativity paper craft ever! You will have the Bethlehem town! And thanks for the generosity of Mrs Martin is free. We should be grateful for a such beautiful Christmas toy!

What a great activity to start on Advent and finish on Epiphany! We could build up the town little by little. And even have the house of the Holy Family, where the wise men found Jesus.

How to make a crown for Mary
Catholics honor Mary at home, too, crowning the true "May Queen's" statue with flowers at their family altars, and leaving roses (especially red and/or white) at her feet, for the entire month of May. If you don't have a statue of Our Lady, you can place flowers around a picture of her. Source

Here is a easy and fun craft- crowns made with lace.
You will need:lace
fabric stiffener or modge podge
paint
wax paper

| Bring flow'rs of
the fairest, Bring flow'rs of the rarest, From garden and woodland And hillside and vale; Our full hearts are swelling, Our glad voices telling The praise of the loveliest Rose of the vale. Chorus: O Mary! we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May, O Mary! we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May. Our voices ascending, In harmony blending, Oh! Thus may our hearts turn Dear Mother, to thee; Oh! Thus shall we prove thee How truly we love thee, How dark without Mary Life's journey would be. (Chorus) |
O Virgin most
tender, Our homage we render, Thy love and protection, Sweet Mother, to win; In danger defend us, In sorrow befriend us, And shield our hearts From contagion and sin. (Chorus) Of Mothers the dearest, Oh, wilt thou be nearest, When life with temptation Is darkly replete? Forsake us, O never! Our hearts be they ever As Pure as the lilies We lay at thy feet. (Chorus) |

Easy cake decoration with paper flowers
Today is the Feast of the Visitation! I suggest celebrating it in a meaningful way. Finish this tutorial and take a cake to somebody in need!
This easy decoration is perfect for those who like to give a cake an added touch decorative flare, but who are not good at baking the cakes themselves. And this is of course for anyone on a budget (like stay-at-home-moms :-) You can use this decoration for a wedding, birthday, showers and any Feast of Our Lady or Therese, Teresa, Rita, Rose and so on!
You will need
• grocery store bakery cake (plain white frosting);
• 2″ scallop circle punch or our flower template;
• tape;
• toothpicks
• one piece of paper (your preference of color - it can be scrapbook paper or gift wrap)
If you are using the circle punch, create flowers from your paper using your 2″ scallop circle punch and skip to the next step. If you are using our flower template, print the template on the paper and cut out the flowers. You will find two different sizes: 2.25 and 2 inches. You may add more dimension to the cake depending on the size you use.
Put a toothpick through the center of your flower and slide up to the tip of the toothpick – leaving a little piece of the toothpick showing.
Fold the underside of the flower against the toothpick causing the petals of the flower to form upward. Then cut a small piece of tape and secure the underside of the flower where the paper and toothpick meet. {make sure to cover the paper and toothpick}
Open up your flower to the point where the petals are pointed up at an angle like this.
Now for the fun part! Get your white cake and add the flowers.
This is a matter of preference. I have made a cascade from the top of the cake going down to one side.
Enjoy!

Easter story cookies!
To be made the evening before Easter.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. whole pecans
1 tsp. vinegar
3 egg whites
Pinch salt
1 c. sugar
Zipper baggy
Wooden spoon
Tape
Bible
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F Place pecans in zipper baggy and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested the Roman soldiers beat him. Read John 19:1-3.
Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1-tsp. vinegar into mixing bowl. Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross he was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30
Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life. Read John 10:10-11.
Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27.
So far the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1-c. sugar. Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him. Read Ps. 34:8 and John 3:16.
Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read ISA.1: 18 and John 3:1-3.
Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheet. Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid. Read Matt. 27:57-60.
Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door. Explain that Jesus' tomb was sealed. Read Matt. 27:65-66.
GO TO BED! Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20 and 22.
On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the first Easter Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read Matt. 28:1-9.
